BEHIND TALEAH

How it all began

Taleah is owned and operated by the designer, Taleah Hayne, located in the Pacific Northwest & Deck 2.

I found my passion for beading and jewelry while reconnecting with my Indigenous heritage over the last few years. I am [Fort Peck] Nakota Souix on my father's side, white from my Mother.

The magic all started because I wanted a pair of earrings to match an outfit I thrifted in April, 20'Quarantine. I picked up thread, got lost in a bead store, bought the lot, and watched Mona C. on Youtube. Inspiration took off, and I haven't stopped.

I posted my progress on Instagram, and people started asking to purchase. Within a few months, I had over 100 pieces sold on Etsy - Some even reaching Australia and England.

My work became bigger than me in the last year. Social injustice became spoken louder, people began listening- and I needed to help however I could.

My desire to create art, to give a piece of my soul back to the world, while doing what I can to bring awareness to the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women in our country, and First Nations in Canada, took my life by storm.

Twenty percent of my monthly sale profit goes towards MMIW Resources, which means your purchase helps, as well.

I am a member and supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, a survivor of Domestic Abuse, and Pro-Choice. I will always have and create a safe space for you here.

Every item created is hand weaved by me, in my home, where I make sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase. Like I said, this all began because I wanted something to match my outfit. I want you to have exactly what you want for yours.
